BBQ chicken is a family favorite at many households. This is an easy recipe that everyone will enjoy and you can cook in the oven.
The first thing to do is go to the store and pick up your supplies. You can buy a whole chicken and cut it up yourself. I usually purchase a whole chicken that is already cut into pieces. You will also need salt and pepper which you should have at home. Purchase a large bottle of BBQ sauce. You will want to get a brand that is full of flavor. If they have a local BBQ sauce, these are usually the best you can buy at the store. You make your own sauce if you know how or want to try this out.
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. While your oven is heating, go ahead and prep your chicken. Use either a cookie sheet or a glass baking dish. If you use a cookie sheet, line the bottom of it with aluminum foil for easy clean up.
Rinse off your chicken and use a paper towel to dab it dry. Next you will want to put some salt and pepper on the chicken. Use just a little bit to lightly flavor your chicken.
Pour some BBQ sauce out into a bowl. Use a kitchen brush to coat the chicken all over with the sauce. Make sure you get it everywhere for the full flavor.
Place your chicken in the oven and set the timer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, check your chicken and turn the pieces over. Once you do this, set the time for 15 more minutes. You will want to check it again at this time. Pink chicken can make you very sick so make sure it is cooked all the way through. You will probably need to cut into one of the pieces of chicken to see if it is done. If it is done, take it out of the oven. If it is not done yet, cook it for about 15 more minutes and check again. It shouldn’t take longer than an hour total to cook this great chicken.
When the chicken is out of the oven, you can cut up some cilantro or parsley and sprinkle it all over the chicken. This just adds a little flavor and makes it look better on the plate. You can skip this step if you would prefer or do not have the fresh herbs.
Server your chicken with a little extra BBQ sauce for dipping. Make a few great side dishes such as baked potatoes or potato salad to go along with it. Enjoy your meal!
