Instructions for Barbecue Chicken Wings

What You Will Need:

  • 1 5 lb package of Tyson chicken wings or party wings
  • 1 32 oz bottle of vegetable oil
  • 1 18 oz bottle of KC Masterpiece honey barbecue wing sauce
  • 1 large plastic mixing bowl and lid
  • 1 crock pot or deep fryer
  • 1 small lemon
  • 1 oversized glass baking pan with lid
  • 1 sheet of aluminum foil (optional)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper
  • 2 single sheets of a paper towel

Prep Work for the Chicken

Begin by washing the defrosted wings with warm water. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice thoroughly over the chicken. Let the chicken sit in the juice for about five minutes. Rinse off the juice with warm water. Leave the skin on the chicken.

Fry the Wings before Baking Them

Pour the entire bottle of oil into the deep fryer and turn on the deep fryer. Heat the fryer on a medium setting for about two minutes. Slowly and carefully drop the chicken legs into the oil. Be careful of grease splatter. Let the chicken fry in the oil for about 30 minutes or until the chicken is golden brown. If you are unsure if the wings are done, stick a two-pronged fork into one of the wings. The fork will fit smoothly into the chicken when it is thoroughly cooked.

How to Bake the Chicken Wings

Turn on the oven and allow it to heat at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the chicken from the deep fryer. Turn off the fryer. Put two single sheets of paper towel in the bottom of the mixing bowl. Place the chicken in the bowl and allow the paper towel to absorb some of the excess cooking oil. Pour the entire bottle of the barbecue sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the chicken. Put the lid on the bowl and shake the bowl so that you evenly cover all of the chicken with the wing sauce.

Pour the chicken into the glass baking pan and cover the top of the pan with aluminum foil. If the glass pan has a lid, use the lid instead of the foil. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for thirty minutes.

Suggestions for Side Items

Barbecue chicken wings go well with any type of raw, sliced vegetable. Try slicing carrots and celery to use as side items. Eat the vegetables with your favorite dipping sauce. Ranch salad dressing is a popular dressing used to dip both the wings and the vegetables. Chicken wings are often served with cold salads, such as pasta salad or potato salad.
