How to Cook Chicken Breast in the Oven?

Cooking chicken breast in the oven can be a very simple meal. Baked chicken is easy enough anyone can master this cooking method. First off preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Once you do this you can prepare your chicken while the oven is preheating.

You will want to use a 13X9 baking dish to cook your chicken. You can fit four or five large pieces in this dish. Pour just a tiny bit of extra virgin olive oil in the bottom of the dish to keep the chicken from sticking. If you see any fat on the chicken, trim it off with a knife before you season the chicken.

Season your chicken well on both sides. There are a lot of options for seasoning. Lemon pepper is always a favorite. You can also use Italian seasoning or rosemary. If you want simple chicken, just salt and pepper will do the trick for you. You can try various seasons you have in the cabinet that you enjoy the taste of for this chicken. Once it is seasoned, place it in the baking dish. You can drizzle oil over the top or simply spray it with cooking spray. If you aren’t worried about fat content, you can use butter, but oil works just fine.

Place your chicken in the oven using over mitts so you don’t burn yourself. Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes and then open your oven up. Use a fork to simply turn over each piece of chicken. Let it cook for 20 more minutes to make sure it is done all the way through.

Chicken should not be pink in the center at all. It can make you very sick if you do not cook it thoroughly so make sure that it is done all the way. You can measure the temperature of your chicken and it should be 160 degrees F. Another easy way to tell is simply cut into a piece of chicken and make sure it is not pink at all in the center.

Chicken is a great meal that can be served with various things for an easy dinner. Just simply cook some mashed potatoes and vegetable for a healthy meal for your entire family. You can always make a simple gravy to go over the chicken. Change the spices up that you use and your family will never realize you are cooking the same thing for them in the future. However, Kelly didn’t mention anything about the carryover cooking process that should take place to bring the internal temp up to the minimum 165 degree Farenheit. Once the chicken has reached 160 degree Farenheit, you should take the pan out of the oven, and cover it. Then let the chicken set for another 10 minutes before serving it. This process finishes bringing the internal temp to the proper degree without overcooking the chicken. It also brings the external juices back to the interior of the meat.
