Serving your family baked pork chops for dinner will surely put a smile on their faces. While there are numerous ways to prepare pork chops, baking pork chops in the oven is one of the healthiest alternatives to serve this delicious entree. The combination of sides you add is completely up to you since pork chops compliment many vegetables and sides. Following a few simple steps will have your family thanking you for an amazing dinner.
Items needed are as follows:
4-6 pork chops (boneless or bone included)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 onion chopped
1 bell pepper chopped
9×13 inch rectangular baking dish
Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2.Wash pork chops off thoroughly.
3.Season meat with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. These seasonings can be replaced with any of your favorite seasonings.
4.Add about ½ cup of water to the baking dish and place pork chops in the dish. A small amount of water keeps the meat from sticking to the dish and keeps the meat from becoming dry.
5.Top pork chops with chopped onions and bell peppers. This is a matter of taste preference, but onions and bell peppers are absolutely tasty on baked pork chops.
6.Cover dish with aluminum foil and place on the center rack of the oven. Covering the dish with aluminum foil will seal the juices in and keep the meat from becoming too dry.
7.Allow the meat to cook for one hour. Oven temperatures vary so keeping a watchful eye on your dish will prevent the pork chops from drying out or burning.
8.Remove from oven and let cool for about five minutes. The pork chops will be very hot once they are out of the oven. Allowing them to cool will prevent burns.
9.Serve with your favorite side dishes. Baked pork chops are great with almost every side dish and any vegetables.
Tip:
If you really enjoy breaded pork chops, you can add a few other ingredients and bake them in the oven just the same. Include 2 slightly beaten eggs and bread or cracker crumbs to the recipe. Follow steps 1 through 3. Once the meat is seasoned, dip the chops in the egg batter and evenly coat with bread or cracker crumbs. Place the pork chops on a lightly greased baking sheet and allow to cook on 425 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes per side.
