Although steak is most often grilled or fried, it can also be baked. If you want to know how to bake steak, just try one or more of the recipes below. Any one of them is sure to be a big hit with your family.

Pan-Seared Baked Steak

This is a basic baked steak recipe. Feel free to experiment with adding sauces and seasonings to make it more flavorful. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Rub salt and pepper into both sides of the steak. Now place 2 tablespoons oil into an all-metal pan or skillet on medium-high heat. Wait until the oil starts smoking, then sear the steak on both sides. Now place the entire pan into the oven and bake for ten minutes on one side only for medium to medium-rare. Add 3-5 minutes of baking time for a well-done steak. Serve immediately while hot.

Baked Chicken-Fried Steak with Mushroom Gravy

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat 6 cube steaks with flour and cook them in peanut oil in a skillet for 5-8 minutes on each side, then place three of them in a greased 9×13 baking dish. Sprinkle seasoned salt, garlic powder and pepper over the steaks, along with 1/3 cup diced onions. Place the other 3 steaks on top and repeat the seasonings and onions. Pour a 10.75 oz. can of condensed cream of chicken soup into a bowl. Then open a 4.5 oz. can of sliced mushrooms. Drain the juice from the mushrooms into the soup can and fill it the rest of the way with water, then add the can of liquid to the bowl of soup. Whisk the soup mixture, then stir in the mushrooms. Pour the soup and mushrooms over the steaks. Cover the pan and bake for 30 minutes, then reduce the heat to 300 degrees and bake for 30-45 minutes more.

Baked Swiss Steak

Cut a 1/2 pound boneless round steak in half and pound the steaks until they are 1/4 inch thick. Mix 1 tablespoon flour with 1/2 teaspoon salt and coat the meat with it. Brown the meat in oil in a skillet, then place it in a baking dish. In the skillet, leave the drippings from the meat and add a 14.5 oz. can of stewed tomatoes, 1/2 cup chopped carrots, 1/4 cup chopped celery, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 1 clove minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce and 1 tablespoon flour. Bring to a boil and cook 2 minutes while stirring. Pour the mixture over the meat, then cover the dish and bake at 350 degree for an hour and a half. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sharp Cheddar cheese and return to the oven just long enough to melt the cheese.

Baked Round Steak in Barbecue Sauce

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Cut 5 pounds of round steak into 1 inch strips. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a skillet and brown the strips on steak on all sides. Use a slotted spoon to move the steak strips to a baking dish. Place 1 clove of minced garlic in the skillet and cook for 5 minutes. Then add 3/4 cup white vinegar, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 cup ketchup. Stir in 1 teaspoon dry mustard, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Simmer for three minutes, then pour the sauce over the steak. Cover the dish and bake the steak for 1 hour, then uncover the dish and bake for another 30 minutes.
