Getting Started:
After selecting the type of blind, you will need to check the window casting for any obstructions and measure the depth. The window must be deep enough for window blind hardware; typically, a depth of two inches is ideal. Also, be sure to carefully examine the window to see if the locks, window cranks, or any other objects may obstruct the function of the blinds. Next, using a tape measure, measure the inside height of the window. Be sure to write down the measurements of the left, right, and middle of the window to ensure you select the correct side and shape blinds. If you are purchasing blinds for more than one window, be sure to measure each window separately. Though they many look the same, there could be a slight difference in length or width. Using these measurements, you can order the blinds from a manufacturer or purchase them at any hardware store, home décor store, or many other retailers.
Fitting the Window Blinds:
For this particular project, you will need a power drill, a drill bit, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a pencil. First, open the package containing the blinds to find the fixtures and fittings needed to fit the blinds. The package should very detailed instructions. Read the instructions before beginning to fit the blinds. Next, using a pencil, place a mark on the wall where you would like your blinds to be positioned. These marks will serve as your drill holes. Simply drill the holes and use the screwdriver to carefully screw the brackets into place. Then, fit your blind into the brackets and enjoy the privacy and look of your new window blinds.
