To introduce myself
« on: November 12, 2012, 12:18:02 PM »
Good day everyone!

I would like to hear from everyone, on the future of the extended family, within one house? I believe, because of the present housing market, we are going to see more interest in this type of housing. I am an inactive real estate agent, who is getting ready to get back into real estate sales.

Hi realpepe,

I already see many adult children losing their homes and moving back in with their parents.  The economy is affecting housing in so many ways.  Some seniors are taking out, "reverse mortgages" since they've lost so much in the stock market over the last few years.  Others are moving in with adult children.  In my area, there are many families taking in siblings due to job loss and divorce.

Hi, realpepe!  Welcome to the THF forum. The THF site has several articles that discuss the future of extended family living.  As PricelessBevy has mentioned, we've been discussing this topic on another forum thread.  We also have some readers commenting on articles such as this one:http://thehousingforum.com/multi-generational-homes-are-the-new-norm/.  You may enjoy reading these articles and comments, as well as posting your own comments.

Hello, Craig from Australia! I'm Penny, from the United States.  I'm a senior member of the THF site, so would like to welcome you to the THF forum.  I'm looking forwards to exchanging ideas and information with you.  One thing I'd like to mention is that you may need to adapt some of the tips and advice to comply with your local building codes and laws or regulations, since they may be different in Australia than they are in the United States.
