Good article!  Thanks for sharing it with us, THF-Man.  My husband and I built our dog houses out of the panels that come with foam inside two thin pieces of metal.  That way the house is well-insulated, keeping the dogs warm in winter and cool in summer.

 Hi, Roofcleaningquotes!  What kind of dog are you planning on getting? Since you live in Wisconsin, you will definitely need to make or purchase an insulated dog house.  Or else you'll have to get a dog that is bred for withstanding cold weather or get an indoor dog.

I'm not sure what dog to get. Thanks for reminding me about the weather. I plan on getting either an Akita or a Siberian husky.

:) Hi, roofcleaningquotes!  You're welcomed for the reminder about choosing an animal bred to withstand the weather.  Too many pet owner forget to take the environmental conditions into consideration when choosing a pet and then end up abandoning the animal or neglecting its needs.  But an Akita or a Siberian husky should be able to withstand the cold Wisconsin winters.  I can't remember what kind of temps you get in the summer time.  But if it gets above 80, you may also have to either shave the husky or Akita or at least have a wading pool for it to lay/stand in to cool off.

I can't imagine shaving an Akita or Siberian. I guess I'll have to go with the pool.

:))  I would go with the pool too instead of shaving the poor dog!  But you probably don't get that many really hot days anyway, do you?

:)  I can relate to having very unpredictable weather due to the climate changes.  Our weather here in OK was unpredictable to begin with, but is even more unpredictable nowadays.  We can have a 30-50 degree change in temperatures within just a few hours.
